Cubeland Demo!

hiya!

this is my first itch.io submission ever! originally i thought another eternally wip project would be the first to come up here, given that its almost done, but nope! this other wip project will take its place instead.

welcome to the first open-ish beta of cubeland testing facility! open-ish because you either found this from my cohost or i personally gave this to you. but now I believe this game is in a state where I can start making more levels than just the two currently on there now.

thats right. theres only two levels. thats why the game says “prototype”. and why the beta is “open-ish”.

theres still a Lot that needs to be done. the title screen is an obvious thing, but also of the internal code. there are a bunch of cube types and other stuff that i would like to add but havent figured out how to implement yet. theres also the undo feature as well, as well as how i store game objects within the level tables. a lot can be improved and added, but i feel comfortable showing out the state of the game now because the engine is at least. mostly complete. i can draw levels within TIC-80s map editor and itll draw it as i want it to 100% of the time. movement of muv and cubes and restarting the game all works.

and my most proudest achievement: the dialogue system. Yes. This game has a story.

not much of one but it Does have one.

but anyways. ill be improving this more and more. i have a general idea how i wanna make the title screen look and how the undo function should be designed, but i also have to finish implementing the last of the first 3 cube types. as well as maybe figure out how to find and store box and flag coordinates on a map. maybe somehow use TIC-80s internal RAM? well see.

for now, im signing off! see ya later fellow cubers :::)
